Why You Should Choose Us Over Uncle Bob with a Shiny New Camera

As you start researching legit professional wedding photographers, you might ask yourself, “Do I really need a professional wedding photographer?” The answer is an absolute “YES!” I understand there will be some initial sticker-shock, but trust me…go with a pro! I could go on and on for days about why an experienced and insured professional wedding photographer is a must (not Uncle Bob who just got a cool new camera). We just love shutterbugs, however, it’s not just about taking great photos. A professional wedding photographer plays a huge role on your big day, and some of the tasks a professional wedding photographer takes on might surprise you.

Here’s why you need a professional wedding photographer—aside from the fact that we’ll take pictures of your big day:

We’ll make sure you look amazing in photos.

You and your future spouse will certainly look (and feel!) your best on your wedding day—and we will ensure that all of that amazingness translates into photos. Yes, you need a professional wedding photographer because we know every trick in the book, from lighting to poses and more. We will know where to pose you and how to handle crazy shadows, overcast and harsh lighting conditions.

We’ll make sure your wedding looks amazing in photos.

We don’t just photograph people, we photograph all the details of your big day from the invitations to the flower arrangements, the seating cards to the cake, the venue, the food, and more. Again, using appropriate lighting and angles, we will make sure that every aspect of your wedding is captured. We also know what lenses to use to achieve soft backgrounds and super close up ring shots.

We are insured.

I cannot stress enough the importance of working with a professional photographer who is insured! Some venues will not even allow vendors to work on their property without proper liability insurance. Therefore, you should be safe and go with a trusted company who is covered!

We’ll also make everyone comfortable.

If you’re feeling nervous or awkward in front of the camera, it will likely show in photos. That’s why you need professional wedding photographers with winning personalities like ours—we are absolute pros at making people feel relaxed and confident in front of the camera. Also – if you opt to have an engagement session then you will already get to know us! An Engagement Session will help us build a personal connection and put you at ease!! In fact, you might have so much fun with us that you’ll forget we’re even taking pictures! This goes for any of your loved ones, too, whether it be your self-conscious cousin, your energetic flower girl or your groomsmen who are “over it”. We always do our best to bring out those natural smiles.

We can make ourselves scarce.

One of the best compliments we receive as wedding photographers is “we barely knew you were there!” After the formal photos, we will photograph your moments as they happen naturally. Experienced photographers are absolute pros at being inconspicuous, meaning there won’t be lenses in your face while you’re trying to say your vows. We have telephoto lenses at our disposal so that we are able to capture incredible shots from most distances.

We are timeline enforcers.

Furthermore, an organized photographer will ensure that your wedding runs on schedule. We are all about timelines and will be sure to have your wedding day schedule down so you don’t have to worry!  After you sign the contract, we will send some questionnaires for you to fill out. When we meet again right before your wedding we will be sure that we know what family members will be photographed and what other special moments you would like captured! We will work with your wedding coordinator, DJ, or whoever is creating your day-of timeline, to determine how long couple portraits and family photos will take so you can get on with the party. Then, on your wedding day, we will do our best to keep everyone on track so that we get all the photos you’ve requested in a timely manner.

We’ll catch the moments you’ll miss.

Having all of your loved ones in one place on your wedding day means that there will be lots of memorable moments—including some you might miss (you’re going to be pretty busy!). We will be there to catch all of these moments and memories—from your first kiss as a married couple to your custom cupcakes and desserts!

We can conceal flaws.

A big part of our job actually comes after the wedding itself. Our in-office editor (also named Heather) will cull, color correct, and crop your images. You might not even notice the changes made during the editing process, but it’s part of the reason why images from a professional wedding photographer are that much more amazing than ones taken by a hobbyist.

Last but not least we’ll help you create an album.

We’ve heard too many stories of couples whose wedding photos live on a computer instead of displayed in their homes—not an ideal way to keep memories of your wedding alive. Our in-house album designer will work with you through the whole process, from choosing your album design to choosing the images for your album and more.
